Expresiile idiomatice sunt expresii ale căror sens este diferit de cel al cuvintelor care le compun. Acum ceva vreme, prezentam și explicam 10 expresii idiomatice pentru vacanța de Crăciun. Azi, discutăm despre 10 expresii idiomatice cu animale.

e.g.: When the internet connection went down, he was like a deer caught in the headlights.

7. a cat in gloves catches no mice → politeness might not get you anywhere
e.g.: His father told him to be more aggressive because a cat in gloves catches no mice.

8. every dog has its day → everybody will have their chance
e.g.: Don’t get discouraged; every dog has its day.

9. the black sheep of the family → the most disliked member of the family

Rezolvă următorul exercițiu. Completează cele cinci fraze alegând expresia idiomatică potrivită și adaugă răspunsul tău în secțiunea de comentarii de mai jos.

    • Dragă Sebi, toate răspunsurile sunt corecte, cu o mică precizare.

      La cea de a treia frază, eu ținteam către: „This is a very formal meeting and you enter the room like a bull in a china shop.” În sensul că persoana care a intrat „like a bull in a china shop” a fost neglijentă, gălăgioasă, nepoliticoasă, poate a dărâmat ceva etc., în condițiile în care ședința era una formală, cu o anumită etichetă.

      Dar nu zici rău, merge și varianta: „This is a very formal meeting and you are like a deer caught in the headlights.” În sensul că persoana e nepregătită, speriată, nu știe ce să spună etc., în timp ce specificul ședinței cere profesionalism și eficiență.
