Când folosesc condiționala a III-a?
Condiționala a III-a (the Third Conditional / the Third If Clause) se folosește pentru a exprima un rezultat diferit în trecut.
Cum se formează condiționala a III-a?
If + condiție (Past Perfect), rezultat (would have + verb la participiu)
If she had drunk the potion, she would have died.
Rezultatul poate să preceadă condiția, e.g.: She would have died if she had drunk the potion.
Afirmativ / Interogativ / Negativ
Verbele se pot folosi la afirmativ, interogativ sau negativ, în orice combinație.
Afirmativ + Afirmativ | If she had drunk the potion, she would have died. |
Afirmativ + Negativ | If she had drunk the potion, she would not have lived. |
Afirmativ + Interogativ | If she had drunk the potion, would she have died? |
Negativ + Afirmativ | If she had not drunk the potion, she would have lived. |
Negativ + Negativ | If she had not drunk the potion, she would not have died. |
had not = hadn’t: If she hadn’t drunk the potion..
would not = wouldn’t: ..she wouldn’t have died.

Alte observații
- Putem folosi și alte verbe modale pentru a forma condiționala III-a. Sensul frazei se modifică în consecință.
